EMW Women's Surgical Center in Louisville was the last clinic offering abortion services to women in the state of Kentucky before permanently closing in June of 2022. A pro-choice group, Louisville Clinic Escorts, would protect women from harassment by protestors. Escorts wore bright orange vests with "Pro-choice Clinic Escort" printed on them to differentiate themselves, and would create a human barrier around the property line of the clinic. Protestors were not allowed onto clinic property, but would often engage in prayer, harass women entering the clinic, display graphic images and preach sermons. Kentucky now has a near-total abortion ban, following the closing of EMW.
